4993 Lego Creator : Cool Convertible
This will be my historical first time getting in touch with Lego bricks. During my kiddie time, we could not afford to get the Lego Bricks as it's too expensive. Now probably it's time for me to revisit my childhood interest :)
I will tell you a story how do I ended up purchasing my first Lego set. It all started when I visit a shop in Amcorp mall selling china products including fake Lego toy. I bought a Castle theme bricksets with RM5.90. Not to say I'm supporting non-genuine product but just curious on how the china technology have evolved :) To my surprised, I really amazed with the construction of the china toy. I didn't know that bricksets have already got all kind of brick sizes and supplementary parts. All that I know (since my younger days), Lego is just one-sized rectangle bricks. After this discovery, my curiosity had expanded to the next level - "If china brickset can amazed me, Lego should do better"
So, the exploration continues. I went shopping at One Utama the next day and drop by Jusco. Due to my curiosity, I went exploring Lego set and to my surprise, the price is so high. A small boxset of 500 pcs is selling for RM200++. The price is still skyrocketing high even after so many years of production. This proved that Lego can sustain the market with good products and this has further my exploration to the next level - getting one for myself.
I immediately fell for this Lego Cool Convertibles as it can assemble in three models using the same set of bricks i.e convertibles, truck and mini bulldozer. This is the Creator Series. With the price of one, I can produce 3 different vehicles. Sounded a good deal right. But the price RM202.50 (RM225 after 10% discount) is still bugging me. In my so many years of living, I had never bought a toy more than RM50 each. This would be a big jump for me. After considering many aspects, I decided to get it.
Not wasting any moment, once reach my home sweet home, I'd immediately opened up the box (like a small kid) and start assembling the bricks. It took me a long 4 hours to get the convertible car in shape. I must say the experience is really amazing. The car is so realistic that the top will open up with the lift of a lever. The mechanism is so well engineered. The door can be opened and show the detailed interior of the car eg. car seat, steering wheel, gear knob. The bonnet can even open up and reveal the engine blocks inside it. I like the complexity during the construction as well as the final product. Not forgetting that the same brickset can be assembled into a truck and a mini bulldozer. This is real engineering and design. I did the assembly of the other two in the same week.
This is where it begins all the Lego hunting activity and my passion towards Lego has grow deeper. I believe that Lego will always be a great educational toy for kids and a good collectible items for adults like me :)
